That’s why he moved to Arizona “bay” to start his winery …future beachfront property. I know I said this before but I will reiterate….this is the album they changed bass players on and Justin Chancellor really rounded out the sound to me….They are great here but just keep getting better and better!!!!🌀 out 👍
Right! I forgot that was on this album. Great song! And insane that this was in 1996. Feels like it could have been made today.
Agreed
Beachfront property lol
Wrong. Maynard did NOT move there because of California falling off. He moved there to prove wine could be grown there. He wrote this song LONG before he ever thought bout Arizona. He just hated the fake BS in LA
"...but I wanna do it some more." 😂 yeah, me too.
😅
Best reaction to this song that I’ve seen. You’ve got a new fan!!
Thanks so much!
Bill Hicks comedy album on Rykodisc, Arizona Bay. Ænema is an homage to his spirit
Ffs you get Tool man…lol I love it 🥰
first time hearing your channel. THIS is my kind of reaction! Cant wait for more
Thanks so much! Appreciate that.
Album name is Ænima this song name is Ænema they are similar but just a little different.
Anima:
1. PSYCHOANALYSIS
(in Jungian psychology) the feminine part of a man's personality.
2. HISTORICAL•PHILOSOPHY
the soul, especially the irrational part of the soul as distinguished from the rational mind.
You rightly noted the name of this is a play on both Anima & Enema.
Ooh! Thanks for explaining that.
Listen to the Rick Beato interview with Danny Carey from a few days ago. Even Danny calls the song enema…then says, about the album; “I guess it’s called Ahnima “. We are all right to be confused about the pronunciation. Even Danny is:)
I love Maynard's mind ... so glad you're on this discovery journey!
Very interesting guy!
Thanks for this very insightful reaction Saeed! Can't go wrong with Tool🤘
Catch you later!
Love this one! Thanks for watching.
Ya his lyrics are just incredible on this one. Really has been going down hill in California since this song was made. Great reaction. A lot of times people cant pick up on the lyrics cause he has a different type of delivery on this one. been listening to Tool since i was a kid. Still waiting for your reaction to Nothing More - Fade in/Fade out if you want a tear jerker with great lyrics also
Great lyricist! Just recorded a reaction to Parabol & Parabola. That video should be coming this week.
I would love to see a drum cam for this one
Hands down. My fave Tool song. #2 is always "the last tool song I listened to?"
Spiral
And
Learn To SWIM!
Great song! And also i am a bad swimmer so if stuff goes down. Im screwed.😅
Then you get this part.. I’m praying for rain musically is gorgeous
OK so I love your Red reactions and now you’re going to cover my favorite band. I can’t wait to see this looking forward to it buddy. This is the best band of all time I’m a little bit biased, but I’m a music junkie and if you go through their entire discography, damn bro if you get the rent army and the tool army on your channel you’ll be at 50,000 subscribers before you know it. I see them live five times. I just saw them in Nashville about a month ago they’ve been touring for the last three years since they released their most recent album and it was 16 years before that since they released their previous album I saw them at Madison Square Garden from New York City originally And I watched them on this tour of this album which was one of my favorite concerts I’ve ever been to and I’ve been through a lot top five concert for sure. They’re getting old now. I didn’t think they were tour again so I was so excited that they did but if you ever get a chance and they’re in your area go!! This is in my top 10 albums all time. So he’s talking about enema he’s just talking about what a shit hole California is specifically Los Angeles and he lives in Arizona and actually has a vineyard there and an awesome restaurant but he’s hoping one day is waterfront property when California washes away cause all the fakes and phonies andwell just listen he’ll tell you oh shit I made most of my comment before I watch the entire video. I didn’t know you watched all that shit on Maynard but most of the wines he names after his mom and I guess you know he has two other bands, but he says at the end he dips a piece of bacon in the vet of wine and they were like why did you do that? What does that do to the wine? He said it doesn’t do anything to the line, but fuck, vegans and vegetarians. Mom’s mother nature. You gotta check out eulogy you’ll enjoy that one but when you’re ready for a serious one, you gotta check out wings for Marie part one and two part two is also called 10,000 days which is also the name of one of the albums, and it’s about his mother and the hypocrisy of religion is deep and he said he doesn’t usually perform or send it because he has a hard time getting through it. I mean him and his mom must’ve been tight he said she’s the closest thing to God. She was in a wheelchair for 10,000 days that’s where the title come from 29 years in the wheelchair and never lost her faith, not one time never complained not one time and after she passed how they were all fucking just hypocrites and phonies and talking about her and what not like man he’s got a lot of anger. He does not like the church or LA. Someone plays me a song that says you gotta hear this. It’s a banger I asked him are you too then? And if they say oh no, I’m not going to tour who’s tour I can’t fuck with two or blah blah blah I throw this on for them and I say so which one of those you think was a banger in their face looks just like your face looked at the end, yup got another member of the TOOL army. There is no collaboration of four better musicians than these guys. I mean I’m talking the Beatles Floyd I don’t care pick one music for musician. Nobody is better than these guys.. i’m sorry this comment is so long, but I love your reaction on this end for five years straight. I was doing like body shows and stuff and all I listen to was TOOL Metallica on rotation mainly TOOL, but I have mixed up sometimes, so I throw some Metallica in there, you’ll get some good ass workout in bro
Happy that you are here for this journey as well. I actually have a playlist with Tool Reactions. The early ones were still recorded on my old laptop that had sometimes framerate issues, so apologies for the quality. But so far the TOOL journey has been fun. So many great songs.
@@SaeedReacts. that’s awesome man. If you ever get the chance to go see the live you have to go 200 bucks 250 ticket at this point Pink Floyd shows I think that you have a 60 years old. Just about. Yes, check out wings for Marie parts one and 2 about his mom. Part two. Also called 10,000 which is the album title for how long his mom was in a wheelchair. 27 years. They’re amazing art and songs and dedications to Maynard mom. Thank you for taking the time to reply I am sure it was much easier when I started you were just about 1000 subscribers. A lot more now.
Bro, I’m so proud of your TOOL journey.😢
Also, if the plate slides on the ocean, Arizona will be the new coast.
Thanks for being here. Appreciate it!
So if i buy property in Arizona, one day i might have ocean view? That is an investment!
And 1 more Tool reaction coming today 🤘
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
💯
I say this all the time; "Don't just call me pessimist... try and read between the lines" is the most important part of this song. At first listen it seems an angry and hateful song, but the whole point of the song is that something has to change, something major. He's not literally wishing death on millions of people. I have hated L.A./Hollywood long before this album came out, but when I first bought this back in the 90s I thought he was reading my mind. This song actually helped me have some empathy for southern Californians, especially L.A. I had the unfortunate experience of living on the border of AZ/CA in Lake Havasu which is a tourist city and tons of the fake plastic Californians from L.A./Hollywood would be there like 9 months out of the year and since I worked with the public it about drove me mad and extremely hateful towards Californians. Luckily I met a bunch of northern Californians who helped me realize there was a whole different side to Cali and if the San Andreas fault broke it would affect them as well.
Thanks for sharing this! Definitely don't wish that fate upon so many people.
new here and this was some great commentary, and most understand about all the pauses so don't fret :)
Thanks for being here! Most people are so great about it. Sometimes those one or two get in my head 😅. Have a good one!
I may be wrong but it's like the ritualistic/tribal tone and vocal ambience at the end was supposed to embody a primal connection between man and mother nature as if to welcome or beckon potential destruction. Fits quite well with the message.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Great song!
Take notice that Maynard criticized everyone in LA EXCEPT the homeless and the addicted and the poverty stricken in this song.
Correct. Im definitely not criticizing those people. Just the system that got them in this position.
He definitely does say fuck all you junkies
Holy crap, almost 30 years ago? In the words of Yoda, old I am!
Compared to Yoda you are a baby 😅. Have a good one, Bob!
@@SaeedReacts.you said i was a baby.....your a good man, I don't care what I said about you earlier 🤣.
Have a good day too my friend
They been talking about California sinking since the 70's that I know of they claimed
that they noticed the fire hydrant's in San Francisco where they bolted flush to the ground
where getting higher back then!..😂
LA crime was real bad in 1986 ,it isnt safe to walk the streets at night!
Awesome review & reaction!..👍
There is always some ending of the world talks it seems 😅. Thanks for watching!
A Perfect Circle - Judith. ❤
Will add it to my list. Thanks.
@@SaeedReacts. loved the Rage & Tool reactions. Would also recommend Rage -Bulls on Parade, Know Your Enemy (Maynard), A Perfect Circle - The Outsider
Remember soon you coming up on some 2 parters….They only reason a say this is that the part ones are more like long Intros not series of the songs like Ren….. and some like Lost keys/ Rosetta Stoned you will probably need to have the lyrics pulled up for 😂👍
Probably.😂
And Lipan Conjuring is the start of that journey.
I’d argue that Faaip De Oaid was forewarning of the left over material to come !!!???🤔
I think i might do a 2 parter next. Thanks for the info!
If you do I’d go parabol/ parabola or wings for Marie pt1and 2 first…. This Rosetta stoned double is a bit crazy about a friend of thieves who burst into their rehearsal after seeing aliens ina bad DMT trip lol… it’s fun but it’s crazy lol
Mom in this case is Mother Nature, and watching Cali slide into the ocean, learn to swim....Arizona will be ocean front property, Arizona Bay
Fingers crossed i will see Arizona bay in my lifetime
Be careful out there 😄
Maynard has about 4 podcast episodes with Joe Rogan going back to 2012. Each one is about 3 hours, and they're all excellent. Another great reaction to my favorite song by my favorite band!
Definitely need to go back to these. Will start with the first one they did, if i can still find it.
You can watch all of them online. He’s great
Yeah let’s do it some more
Fuck I love how you interpret Tool.. it’s like a hammer to a nail… just another Tool.
Thanks, man! They make great music!
While L.A. is the target for the lyrics. I also believe this song is about an Ego enema. Flushing out the fake, selfishness from our minds to be our authentic self. "Try and read between the lines, I can't imagine why you wouldn't welcome any change, my friend". The title is a combination of Anima (soul) and enema (flush it all away)
That is a great interpretation and message!
I'm confused. What rules or laws are in place that stops the police from arresting fentanyl abusers?
I thought open drug use was forbidden.
@@SaeedReacts. I'm really not sure what you're saying but I don't think it answers my question. Not trying to be a dick here, but you made a pretty concerning claim and if it's true I'd really like to know more about it.
You get a lot of Maynard in “Blood into Wine”
Will check that one out.
they are switching from 6/8 time to 5/8 Time constantly in this song. It makes headbanging difficult
I noticed my head was having difficulty 😅
Love some angry Maynard. You should check out Justin and Danny doing this song at Berklee, can really get a feel for what Justin does in this song. 3:12 mark of that video in particular. It’s pretty sick. Don’t have to reacto to it but would love to hear your thoughts after you see it 😊
Will check that out! Thanks!
This is an homage to Bill Hicks
Wish you had more thoughts at the end. Discuss the lyrics more. Maynard is a genius lyrically. Give me more thoughts!!
Been trying to find a balance between pausing, talking and letting it play. Maynard definitely is a genius!
Yeah LA here is symbolic of the entertainment industry in general and more broadly any ego-centered narcissistic self-righteous culture.
Most of actual LA isn’t like that. There are more people in LA county than like 40 states (more than 7 states COMBINED)! And only about 2% are in the entertainment industry. So Ænema is not about actual LA but about the greed and self-absorption of the industry the band had to deal with in LA at that time.
Thanks for sharing that! LA is a lot bigger than just that small part i was thinking about. Definitely most people are not like that at all. Great song!
You definitely picked up on the meaning immediately. Arizona Bay is what would be created if the lower half of California a fell into the ocean.
NPC's lol. I like that. I'm going to use that.
Best diss track ever!
Oh, so then Arizona would be at the coast? That is crazy to think about. Amazing track.
NPCs used to refer to mindless people was widely adopted by right wing youths to refer to "woke" people. You might want to reconsider picking that one up although the memes were kinda hilarious...
@@pr0pagandhi511 oooohhhh
Side Reaction: Aesop Rock- Aggressive Steven
Its about a junkie breaking into Aes’ apartment and what the cops tell him. I’d be interested to hear your interpretation of that song with all the current events of homelessness/fentanyl/addiction and the corrupt DA’s decriminalizing violent crimes, letting violent criminals go free… I could go on but I wanna hear your thoughts if you happen to hear that song
Interesting. Will try to get to this one next week!
@@SaeedReacts. Aesop Rock has the most creative writing style, metaphors, and expansive vocabulary out of any hip hop artist I know. I hope you like him. I don’t know what you use for reactions to Tool, but you somehow follow the lyrics while presenting clear audio. So, keep it up. My only suggestion for this song would be to get legit lyrics. Thanks man. As a writer, I think you’ll be impressed. He tells a story and paints a picture like no other, and has the most alluring, syncopated beats around
@@SaeedReacts. and oh yea. It’s a funny song, not a song about any of the things I mentioned. So, if it doesn’t make you think of corrupt DA’s or fentanyl it’s all good. There’s a lot to chew on
Legal issues with their label left a bad taste in the band's mouth causing this great song. Justin joining the band gives a new power the band needs to endure all the fighting in the courts. You can see with each new album how they channel their frustrations into masterpieces.
Thanks for sharing that info!
Believe me man,you do NOT want 1 & LA is Detroit with palm trees
Will wait a while before i get one 😅
If it happens in America it happens here in Australia 🇦🇺 too eventually … unfortunately
Same here
check out meytal cover this on drums.
Please do Right in Two. Like anger? Do songs from Undertow.
Pronounced 'Ahh-nuh-muh' 👍
Thanks!
Please please do third eye … 😢🎉😮😅😊
Will try to do that one soon!
What are the police supposed to do about homelessness? Lock people up? And put them where?
I was more pointing to using drugs openly on the street, maybe i phrased it wrong. And i have no answers either. Just asking the question
@@SaeedReacts. Drug users, same problem. Society failed people because our collective priorities are upside down. It's not a law enforcement issue, it's an issue of values.
And if you notice, most of the people on Skid Row are not from LA. They're from all over the country. There's no support for people where they come from because communities don't want to deal with this stuff. It costs money and their lives aren't worth that much.
It's been over 5 months now and I wonder if you get a grasp of what the track is about because here you did not.
I am still trying to grasp life.
You said doodie..lol 💩
🤣
It’s pronounced un-e-ma…. But love your work fam….
Thanks for the pronounciation!
Song does nothing for me 🥱
Cant be for everyone
Well its not always about the lgbtq community...
Then why comment?
@@allsublyme hah? Not allowed to voice my opinion in your world? 🤦🏻♂️
@TheRammMan I just think it was pointless and unnecessary. No reason to bring in negativity. If you don't like it, fine, move on. Nobody cares about negative opinions. Just makes you look like a troll.
LOL....TOOL is bunch of tools. Nothing I would ever put on repeat or a playlist. Geez.
To each is own!
