This was my go-to crying song in grade 5, I thought the lyrics were “I’ll be just fine pretending I’m nine” and I was like “Bro, I’m 9, this guy gets me.”
🤣🤣🤣
That's hilarious
That’s amazing 😂
This is great 😂
Haha hahahahahahaha
I really don't know why emo gets so much hate. All it is is musicians that relate to a lot of mental illnesses and writing songs about it. This type of music has probably saved more lives than any other genre.
Well I guess a lot of people don't like it because some think the emo lifestyle almost sort of praises the self pity and the feelings of depression. As if its kind of an example of how to life, rather than trying to life with it. And without really trying to deal with the problem, it sort of embraces it in a way which I also think could be harmfull to teens that go through a lot in their lifes. Especially if you think about how vulnerable and influenceable you are at such a young age. I used to be interested in emo stuff as well, but I'm actually glad I'm over it.
Studies show that teens feel better listening to more angsty and yelling type songs then pretending to be happy while singing along to happy sunshiny songs.
@@jujufeirrieo2836 That's true! I absolutely agree with that. It's never a good thing to ignore sad or depressed feelings. I just said that some people can also take it too far by completely drown in their sadness and self pity without trying to cope with it. Especially at a younger age it's hard not to get carried away and not let those emotions take control. But no, of course never ignore them
Actually, Ska music saved my life.
Locked in Vacancy - Forty Ounces.
Because it sounds bratty, cutesy, and insincere.
"emo" stereotypes aside, musically a lot of these bands, including The Used were very talented and made great rock.
Agreed
Agreed they are underrated
patrick miller here here !!
Bands like this, TBS and other are pink emo my man! White belt stretched ears and vans warped tour
So much this. Was in 5-7th grade during this era. Always remember my dad letting me play my cds in the car when we went places. He was a classic rock buff and as much as he hated to admit it, he loved my emo rock!!!
It's my birthday turning 36 still jamming this and crying 😊
Happy belated 😊
2021.
30 years old, re-listening and cried like a baby.
So many memories. So much emotion. From just one song so many years ago.
"I'll be just Fine, pretending I'm Not.
I'm far from Lonely, and it's All That I've Got."
Be Kind. Be Loving. Be Selfless to your fellow man.
We can be the Change.
Same. I turned 30 this year and listening to this makes me feel like I'm 15 again. Fuck im getting old lol
Beautiful, I'm 30 too ❤️
I'm 30 as well. This song was my favourite from them and the used one of my fav bands. I can't explain my feelings listening to this and watching the video...
You aren’t a baby when you’re just becoming a kid again.
Can relate
My brother had this song on his iTunes when we were younger. I always downloaded all his music, he passed away last September 3 weeks before he was supposed to get married to his high school sweet heart. I love you Johnny this takes me back😕
Sorry for your loss ❤
Good taste in music. Rest in peace brother
This album got me through some hard times. Single mom with a newborn, played this on repeat ♡ he is a teenager now and I just bought him this CD ..keeping the emo going ♡
Yesssssssss awesome
I’m turning 30 next month and my mom was the one to get me into the used when I was in 5th grade and she is driving 6 hours to see them in Albuquerque. The used really hits your hard and stays with you for life.
@@mromatic17 I didn't. But thanks for projecting your own life experiences
@@mromatic17 how do you know her bdaddy is even alive? What a tool

Fuuuuse. Remembering the Steven's Untitled Rock Show days. Senses Fail would come on, the used, MCR, Thursday, Atreyu, the red jumpsuit apparatus, underoath.. miss those days.
Remember how Fuse was MuchMusic before it was Fuse? I also turned to music to get me through those times ❤❤❤
Fuse was am awesome channel before they stopped showing anything music related now they just show reruns of shows
Oh my god. FUSE!! Every day.
My god this takes me back. The Emp genre and mid 2000s will forever have a special place in my heart.

Thank you
I can't listen to this drunk. I know from decades of experience that I'll cry almost every time. And we never learn. That's why I'm crying now.
2020? This song is still an absolute banger, my high school me is screaming on the inside
Facts! Just was listening to this album today while I was working out! Fucking high school banger right here for me to! My senior year! This album is easily top ten greatest albums of all time!

OMG! I was actually born the year there self titled came out. So technically I lived thro this XD. This brings me back to that 90s nostalgia that I never expirenced.
I was drunk, now I'm not.
I remember being just 9 years old listening to this on MTV. That's when they played music videos for like an hour a day.
ahhh yes. That's when i used to watch all these videos. And then MTV took it off smh.
I remember when I was 9 all they ever played pretty much was music, and music related stuff........
Dylan Frank Yup
They'd play music videos after I'd come home from school, but then they stopped it
I remember when they played music pretty much all day hahaha
Bert McCracken wrote “All That I’ve Got” about his pet Chihuahua, his girlfriend and their unborn child, all whom had died over the course of a month. Despite its melodic, catchy tune and light, friendly instruments, you can feel McCracken’s raw emotion and pent-up sadness cut through, resulting in a profound, powerful song that can still be sung along to.
Rip
+Ally Greyson what never happend
Ally Greyson
It's been verified by Genius.
Well, the Chihuahua part is right. Bert wrote this song after his dog got ran over by a car. Watch their Live at The Palace DVD and Bert explains it before he starts singing the song.
He didn't write it about his chihuahua, the band dedicated it to the dog after it died.
Everyone seems to be like "aww high school memories. I used to love these guys". I'm in high school, and it sounds like everyone grew out of these kind of bands, whyyy?!?
Because these bands kept us alive during a dark period of our lives. Now they are just good memories we can visit from time to time.
+finley simpkins Justin bieber
+finley simpkins Yea... it fucking sucks I live in Michigan (High school currently) and the new popular is shitty repetitive rap music that you can barley understand that has next to no meaning except getting high or having sex, what ever happened to when you didn't have to do shit like that to be cool.
+Remover Checker Decker That's pretty much what it was like growing up to this music. You'd have the normal Jocks and Preppy kids, but then there were the "alternative" kids who wore plaid, skinny jeans, converse, had piercings etc. They were very much the subculture, much like today. In fact, I remember getting bullied heavily for listening to and learning to play this sort of music. Hip-hop was still the main genre then, things haven't changed that much.
+Tj Stickland The school district I was in was mainly alternative back in the day
"I'm looking for the end." "Be careful what you wish for, you just might find it."
These words are important to me. Thank you for making such impactful music. 💕
This song is like stepping in a time machine back to high school

When I first listened to this album a friend in high school handed it to me saying "You need to listen to this." It's now 2024 and I still love this album 😭 Time is fleeting friends.

Me - hypnotized through the video by Jepha's fancy footwork back there 😵
Canada where you at!!! let me hear you scream out! Much love from
The lower 48, we love you and wish you freedom and happiness! We are not as different as they want you to believe! No one down here wants you to abandon your true selfs, we just want you to embrace freedom as it should be…. Idk what that means to you but as a regular visitor for over two decades I feel for you…my children will appreciate your currency, laws, and way of life they will not feel anything but brotherhood towards your way of life, differences in culture currency and the way of life… I feel we all want freedom from tyranny no matter what country or language.::
The older I get the more I understand the video and I understand the theme and may I say such a beautiful and artistic way to represent such dark song.
Totally agree. This song hits me SO hard.
It be nice if u could share ur view on this track me personally it reminds me of how I'm still not were I want to be in a relationship.
@@lucuu2713 this song talks about ending alone and try to build something with this.
it was written about Bert gf, who died pregnant from a heroin overdose, and his beloved dog who died soon after.
artistically you can take any visions, art is meant for this.
for me, it talks about the transition of losing the inocence of early life and getting used to the the adulthood hard times
Time goes by so fast. My mom listened to these guys nonstop from 2002 to 2005. I was 7 to 10 and all I gotta say is my mom taught me good music from a very young age. So many memories.
omg!! this sounds like me and my son same years and all!!!
I have a heart, bruised and stitched together with ",I'm far from lonely" tattooed on my hip. Will always love The Used.
Let it play and decide if you wanna trudge this road because this playlist (while edited to some extent) will make you introspective.
This was my brothers favorite band. He had the heart tattoed on his arm. Last night he died in a single car accident. I miss him so much. this music is tearing at my soul. I love you zach.

my cousin is in his 20s, he grew up with this music, he just got out of jail when i met him for the first time and we found out that we both shared a love for fall out boy, my chemical romance, and lil peep. He showed me this song and other songs by the used. He just relapsed on drugs, whenever i listened to the used i think of him, i really really hope he's alright.
This is one of those songs that I keep on coming back to; even if its been longer than a decade. Cheers my fellow millennials, we're getting old as hell.
😥
Fabulous live show too!! Saw them four times

This song felt deep when I was a teenager. 10 years later I'm 27 and its exponentially deeper. Call it nostalgia... I call it remembering to fyxking feel something
Bert wrote this song about his dog that passed away. I listened to this song over and over again when my little guy passed last year. My kitty died yesterday, and I once again find myself stuck in the loop of this song.
O
A couple years ago I fell head over heels for this unattainable guy and I was like, why can't I stop feeling this? Then one day I re-watched an old Used video and realized... this guy looked exactly like Bert McCracken (my first celebrity crush). Blew my mind! Then I burst out laughing
I like it
This song truly captures the broken heart and expresses it perfectly.
I remember listening to this song as a teen and wishing I was just pretending I wasn't fine... but I really wasn't fine.
RAWRing 20s .. 2020 emo relives !!!! Im 29 now. Emo never dies we just age 🤘

So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me
Off guard, red-handed
Now I'm far from lonely
Asleep I still see you lying next to me
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me I
I need something else
Would someone please just give me
Hit me, knock me out
And let me go back to sleep
I can laugh
All I want inside I still am empty
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me I
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I guess, I remember every glance you shot me
Unharmed, I'm losing weight and some body heat
I squoze so hard
I stopped your heart from beating
So deep that I didn't even scream fuck me, I
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
And it's all that I've got
Yeah, it's all that I've got
It's all that I've got
It's all that I've got
It's all that I've got!
So deep that it didn't even bleed and catch me
So deep that I didn't even scream fuck me
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got
And it's all that I've got
Yeah, it's all that I've got
Until I knew the lyrics sometime last year, I genuinely used to think it sung out: "I'll be just fine, pretending I'm yours, I'm far from lonely, and it's all that I've got." And I refuse to believe it the way it is actually written, because I carried my own version of the song my whole life, and it just adds so much more sentiment and heartbreak for me.
Was like 15-16 depressed, now 28 depressed lmao

Omg I remember being in my freshman year of highschool listening to this song as I walked through the halls alone. Music got me through highschool, this was my favorite song. Jeph Howard
How anyone can get by without this band in their life is beyond me. I was a kid listening to them and now 33 and still have them in my life.
Okay I have a question/observation. I don't know if this is the most appropriate place to put this, but since I thought of it while watching this video, I will put it here.
It seems like this phase of music was the last time that a form of "rock music" has swept teenagers and a craze developed. I am going to call it "emo", because that is what my friends and I called it at the time, and I don't know how else to refer to it, so no offense to anyone. It started up in 2004, and peaked in '05, '06, and '07, and then declined in '08, until it was pretty much over in '09. I was thirteen when it started, and about seventeen when my peers grew out of it. I had a few friends who were into this style.
Would you agree that this type of music was the last time that a form of rock music was very mainstream, to the point that tons of kids dressed so similarly that they could be identified as "emo"? I look back and this style of music was a cultural phenomenon. Tons of people loved it, tons of people hated it. To me, this was the last time period where a form or "rock music" had any real cultural significance. I'm 23, and I don't watch MTV like I once did, so I don't know if I'm right, or if I'm really just that out of the loop.
At the time I wasn't fond of this stuff, but maybe nostalgia is causing me to realize that some of these songs, including this one, are pretty damn good. I'd love to hear you guys' opinions.
Deff agree with you!! In 2004 i was 14 and so on, im 24 now and all this music takes me back to when there were no worries at all just fun and friends!!!:)
I'm 14 and am considered "emo" because I wear all black and the used is my favorite band
...Just ignore the labels.
i grow up with this shit too im 21 and cant stand any of the new rock coming out i think cage the elephant was the last band that was actually good. I dont know but rock will come back with a force
2 points for ur observational skills. its just the music today(all of it, not just emo) is all shit for the most part. we used to buy albums and now we download singles.
Wow after almost 20 years of listening to this I finally understood the entire song about pretending you’re not fine when you are very much so…only to rush through life and fly through all the milestones almost as if without a glance and then you’re old and it’s over. Awesome song with much meaning. Heard this at like 13 and now I’m 31…wow
I’m now 38. Still listening to songs from my pasted and this one is one of them and we’ll as the kill from 30 seconds from mars
This is so good but you must hear “The Wave” or “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🤘🎶🤘
I turned 40 this year, and this song hits me harder than it ever did back in the day. Music is honestly the best time capsule....

Omg, this little dude was the old man the entire time! Christ, this song just reminds me of how old I’m getting. Not to mention, I haven’t watched this since I was 13.
This music video was almost made to look back on. I was a tween when this video came out, so eager to grow up, and how quickly the young grow old. The scene "be careful what you wish for you just may find it," then when he does he grows old so quickly. An allegory for all our lives.

As a 29 year old, trust me be glad you didn't live through the 00s as a teen. It was the cringiest decade of them all. This music is a lot cooler out of context, believe me. I still can smell the scents of everyone's fried-to-death emo hair and the putrid smell of their infected snake bites.

Songs enough to make a grown man cry. Brings me back to being 12, hanging out in my friends room while he plays Counter Strike, with this playing on Fuse TV in the background.
I remember my sister showed me these guys and a bunch of rock, punk, and metal. Sadly she's got mental problems and I don't see her that often because of it. The used, Blue October, AFI, Metallica, Slipknot, are just a few bands that mostly remind me of her.
I was 23 when I saw this video on Fuse, I miss the old Fuse channel.
You can say that again. I used to watch the First Hand, and the Captain and Kasey show. Good times, being 15 with zero responsibility. I was big into skating and BMX. We'd be 15-20 people deep at a small local skatepark ripping it. The best part about skateboarding or any other extreme sport is the encouragement and support you receive when working on a difficult trick. I've never met a snobby skateboarder or bike rider, definitely some of the best role models in my opinion.

I was with my ex-wife for 17 years. I got home from the airport in New Jersey and this song was on when she decided to tell me that "she fell out of love" with me when in actuality she committed adultery while I was at a funeral in Puerto Rico. Although an amazing song, it literally breaks me to pieces every time I hear it...

Keep going, everyone!!! Let's get super fking old and stay emo together.

Am i the only one who thinks Bert looks really pretty in this video? To me he looks really beautiful in a completely innocent way
I remember racing back home every day after school just to watch Steven's Untitled Rock Show and Dedicate Live. This was one video that did not disappoint; years later it still holds up today. I love the story and artsy, dark atmosphere. It's creepy but exciting at the same time! I love it when music videos like this one have a little fairy tale vibe; it's my favorite! :D
oh my god! yessss i always watched SURS and Dedicate Live and loved when I got to see The Used and MCR on Steven's show. Those were the days.. That was how I discovered music, youtube really wasn't a thing for music because myspace was still super popular.
k1773ns OMG.. foreals... that reminds me of junior high... *cries smiling*

I AM NOT AFRAID TO KEEP ON LIVING
This came first.
:O
I discovered this through my emo sister way back in like 05-06, always listened to it as a guilty pleasure. I just realised that for a while now, after loads of trauma.. I have nothing, only the company of my friends and ironically, it is all that ive really got. Almost like a premonition of things to come lol
This song got me through middle school and I will forever be grateful for that. By far this is my favorite song!
Saw these guys at PointFest. Never heard of them then.
Now, a year later as of May 23rd, I'm in love. I was so happy at the arcades there was Pretty Handsome Awkward in there.
This song was my ringtone on my flip phone in 2006. Oh the memories, back before all my calls were about my car's extended warantee.
Glad to have yA
Seriously
The Razor was the shit
Can we just take a moment to appreciate these lyrics??
Still the BEST VIDEO/SONG from them in my opinion. I love Branden
So so good. I love this still and I'm 35 and it's 2023!
Phase, emo or anything else, these guys got me through alot. Still listening from a heart noose in 2021 and plan on keeping on.
Well, 33 here and never forgot this song since when I was a teen. Live on guys. Live on ✊
37 and still going through this “phase” lmao❤
This has always been my favorite music video of all time. I think it tells such an incredibly compelling and sad story.
10 Years later I picked up the guitar and tried to learn these songs only to realize just how skilled these guys were coming up with all of these melodies and being genuine.
